1 Corinthians 6:19
“Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you?
Don’t you know that you have the Holy Spirit from God, and you don’t belong to yourselves?”
This echoes the question we Americans ask ourselves today. Are we responsible for our physical body? Or is sanctification merely a call to our spirit? Call to our soul?
At Experience Faith, we want to walk curiously with you on the journey to understanding these questions for yourself. What is the role of our bodies when it comes to the spiritual walk?
Often in evangelical circles, we see a compartmentalization between the daily life and ministry, we see a division between what is happening within one’s body and the spiritual life. Dallas Willard called the body, “the little "power pack" that God has assigned to us as the field of our freedom and development. He states, “Our lives depend upon our direction and management of it.”
John Mark Comer states in his book Practicing the Way, “Apprenticeship to Jesus—that is, following Jesus—is a whole-life process of being with Jesus for the purpose of becoming like him and carrying on his work in the world.”
We are a group of women who want to hold space for the wrestling thoughts around our ‘power packs’ being curious about what a whole-life process of being with Jesus truly looks like for us as individuals as well as the collective body of Christ.
